Level 1 • Take a Cruise Ship
Ship Simulator Experience for the ‘Captain’ who can choose five more members of his crew. This is for 1 hour of sailing a Cruise Ship either from Southampton, going out to sea to begin your holiday adventure... or sailing into the spectacular harbour of Hong Kong.
Level 2 • Command an Oil Tanker
Ship Simulator Experience for the ‘Captain’ who can choose five more members of his crew. This is for 1 hour of controlling a huge oil tanker and experience the challenge of handling a truly enormous vessel. Sail this ship either in San Francisco... navigating past Alcatraz and under the Golden Gate Bridge, or Gibraltar... handle your tanker through the waters around the Rock.
Level 3 • Take the Coastguard Cutter
Ship Simulator Experience for the ‘Captain’ who can choose five more members of his crew. This is for 1.5 hours of sailing a faster, more demanding vessel and putting your ship handling skills to the test. Choose between the busy waters of Calais to Dover or New York.
Level 4 • Command a Military Ship
Ship Simulator Experience for the ‘Captain’ who can choose five more members of his crew. This is for a 2 hour ultimate experience. Are you up for the challenge?
Take command of a military vessel in Long Beach and discover what it takes to handle a highly capable ship, navigate a mine field, close quarter manoeuvring and refuelling at sea... with maybe some emergencies along the way!
Our Journey...
The Ship Simulator Experience was created by former Royal Navy & Merchant Navy officers with a lifelong passion for the sea and everything that happens on the bridge.
Our 360° Simulator is a professional maritime training system, actively used by mariners from around the world and by industry professionals to test and develop navigation software. But over the years, we received countless requests from people asking if they could step onto the bridge and experience what it is really like to command a ship.
And so, the Ship Simulator Experience was born.
We wanted to give everyone the opportunity to take the controls and experience the excitement, challenge and responsibility of being on a real ship’s bridge – without ever leaving dry land.

What is a ship simulator experience?
A ship simulator experience gives you the chance to step onto the bridge and take control of a ship in a highly realistic professional simulator.
How long does it last?
It lasts between 1 and 2 hours, depending on the level you choose.
Do I need previous experience?
No, no marine experience is necessary.
Is it suitable for children?
Minimum age: 7 years. Due to the specialist equipment used, this experience is not suitable for children under 7. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
How realistic is the simulator?
Very realistic! Our simulator is a professional maritime training system, used by mariners around the world for training and navigation software testing. It recreates sights, controls and challenges of being on a real ship’s bridge, giving you an authentic experience of handling and navigating a vessel.
Can I take photos or videos?
Yes, absolutely! And please tag us if you post them on social media.
Can I buy a gift voucher?
Yes! All our experiences are purchased as digital vouchers, making them the perfect gift for family and friends. Simply enter the recipient's name in the designated box at checkout and we'll personalise the voucher for them. However all vouchers are transferable, so if plans change, you can use the voucher yourself or pass it on to someone else. All vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase, giving plenty of time to book and enjoy the experience.
Can I cancel or reschedule?
Yes, bookings can be cancelled or rescheduled up to 48 hrs before. Please email bookings@ecdis.org
Where are you located?
Steel House, Biz Space, Solent Business Park, Parkway, Whiteley, Fareham PO15 7FP.
Is there parking?
Yes, there is plenty of free parking available, but you will need to enter your car registration in reception to register you and avoid any fines.
Do you provide refreshments?
No food or drink is allowed in the Simulator, however Whiteley Village is situated a 5 minute walk away and offers a wide array of popular food outlets.
